Ruth "Ruthie" Agnes Cameron Obituary

Ruth Agnes Cameron, 86

Reserve Mines, N.S.

With great sadness, we the family of Ruth Agnes Cameron, 86, of Reserve Mines, announce her peaceful passing on Thursday, August 27, 2026, in Maple Hill Manor, New Waterford, N.S. Born in Reserve Mines, N.S., Ruth was the daughter of the late Jack and Agnes (Murphy) Wilson.

For the past twelve years, Ruth was a resident of Maple Hill Manor, New Waterford, where she met many friends. Ruth was a beautiful lady with remarkable strength and character. Resilient and determined, she met life’s challenges with an ability to pick herself up, dust herself off and carry on. But strength was only one part of who Ruthie was, she loved to laugh and her laughter and sense of humor remained with her throughout her life. She owned and worked at Reserve Drive Inn, and was a member of Reserve Mines Pensioners, where Ruthie worked for several years.

She will be remembered for her beauty, her strength, and character, but most of all the laughter she shared with those around her.

Ruth is survived by two sons: Vincent “Boo” (Michelle) Cameron and John (Krystal) Cameron; a daughter Patricia Lynn (Mike) Hutchinson; two brothers: Eric Wilson (Willena) and Jerry (Linda) Wilson; three grandchildren: Blake Cameron, Christopher Cameron and Andrew Gaskell; one great-grandchild Hunter Cameron.

Along side her parents, Ruth was predeceased by her husband Vince Cameron; brothers John William (Rita), William John (Judy); sisters Shirley Chisholm, Adeline Fraser, and Alivina LaFever (Howard); a grandson Justin McNeil.

As per her wishes, cremation has taken place under the care and compassion of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Glace Bay.

There will be no visitation or service, a graveside burial will take place at a later time.

Ruth’s family would like to thank Maple Hill Manor in New Waterford for helping to care for Ruthie the past twelve years; we will be forever grateful to all the wonderful nurses for all the love and compassion given to our mom. To her brother Eric Wilson for his weekly visits, we greatly appreciate that you were always there for our mom and her children, thank you.
