It is with great sadness that the family of Miranda (Randi) Marie Murphy (nee Muller) of Halifax, announce her death at the age of 58. Randi lost her very long and courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, August 22, 2026, with her family members by her side.

Diagnosed with cancer four years ago, Randi refused to allow the cancer to dictate how she would live her life. Randi was a true fighter in every sense of the word, having pulled through many operations, radiation treatments, immunotherapy, and fibromyalgia. She would not let any of this determine when she would pass away. She stayed with us as long as she could to enjoy the company of her family and friends. Randi has left us far too early, and she will be sadly missed by all who knew her, especially the Sisterhood of the IV. Randi cherished her time with family, and we are forever grateful for the many precious memories of a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt and most importantly Nanny.

Born in Sydney on 18 July 1968, Randi grew up in Sydney and then lived in various locations, finally settling in the Halifax region. Randi worked at various jobs in her lifetime, ultimately working for the Canada Border Services Agency where she met the man she would eventually marry. For 18 wonderful years, Randi was the best friend, confidant, Bingo buddy and finally (after he got around to asking), the wife of Mike.

Randi never met a sale she didn’t like, especially if it concerned purses, shoes or clothes. Internet shopping became a bit of a hobby; so much so that the internet said WWRB, or What Would Rand Buy? Her other passion was travelling with Mike, whether it was in the RV around NS or accompanying Mike on several of his work trips out of country. She had become a fan of business class and wasn’t too fussy when she had to fly economy.

She was the adored mother of Nichole (David) Lake Echo, and Melissa (Andrew) Sydney, stepsons Craig, Comox, BC and Conor (Laura), Annapolis Royal. She was the treasured Nanny of Ryder, Jackson, Avery and Bristol. Her grandchildren were the love of her life, and there was nothing she wouldn’t do for them.

She is survived by her husband, Mike; her beloved pup, Luna; father, Lawrence Sr (Sharon); Sydney and her brother, Lawrence Jr. (Sharon) Calgary; brothers-in-law Paul (Maureen) Halifax and James, Moncton; stepsisters - Amanda Sullivan (Tyler), Kristy Nichols (Terry); Stepbrother, Paul Jobe (Connie); nieces and nephews- Sydney, Kylie, Daniel, Isaac and Mason. She is also survived by many aunts, nieces and nephews and will be especially missed by Joey (Kirsten, Emily, JT and Aiden).

Randi was predeceased by her mother, Donna Muller and Uncle, Harry Muller.

Randi's family would like to extend a sincere thank you to all the doctors (too many to list here) who worked with her to treat this illness, especially Dr. Jennifer Melvin of the Cancer Centre. We would also like to extend sincere thanks to the staff of the QEII Cancer Centre and the palliative care unit of the QEII, along with the excellent and caring staff of Hospice Halifax. The care and professionalism you have shown during this trying time are a credit to all you personally and professionally.

In keeping with Randi's wishes, cremation has taken place under the care of T.J. Tracey Funeral Home, Halifax. A service to celebrate Randi's life will be held in Halifax, with another in Sydney at a future date.
