It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Patricia Marjorie Fraser, affectionately known to all who knew and loved her as Pat, who passed away peacefully on August 21, 2026, at the age of 87, with her loving family by her side.

Pat was a remarkable woman whose strength, determination, warmth, and sense of adventure touched the lives of all who knew her. Fiercely independent throughout her life, she raised four children on her own while working full-time, providing unwavering love, guidance, and support to her family. She met life's challenges with courage, resilience, and grace. A woman ahead of her time, she built a successful career holding management positions during an era when such opportunities for women were uncommon. Through her hard work, leadership, and dedication, she earned the respect of colleagues and formed many lasting friendships that she cherished throughout her life.

Pat was an avid camper who loved spending time around the Cabot Trail and every back road in between throughout Cape Breton. Those adventures brought her great joy and countless cherished memories over the years. What began as a love of camping grew into something much more meaningful, as she met many kind people along the way who became her second family. The friendships she made through camping were among the most treasured relationships of her life and remained a source of laughter, support, and companionship for many years. While camping, Pat also enjoyed one of her favorite hobbies: painting beautiful pictures on rocks. She had a remarkable talent for turning ordinary stones into treasured works of art. Those fortunate enough to have received one of her painted rocks know just how special and beautiful they were and will forever cherish them as a lasting reminder of Pat's creativity, generosity, and love.

She was also a passionate gardener with an extraordinary green thumb. Whether tending flowers, plants, or creating beautiful gardens, Pat seemed to have a special gift for helping everything grow. Her gardens reflected her vibrant spirit and brought beauty and happiness to all who saw them.

Pat treasured the friendships she built throughout her life and always looked forward to spending time with those she held dear. She enjoyed her yearly Christmas get-togethers with the Sears girls, cherished her card nights with the Westmount ladies, and always loved heading "up the hill" for a few refreshments and good company. Oddly enough, no matter the occasion, her car always seemed to find its way safely back to her driveway on autopilot. These moments of laughter, friendship, and togetherness brought her immeasurable joy and created memories that will be fondly remembered by all who shared them.

Above all else, Pat was devoted to her family and took great pride in the lives and accomplishments of those she loved.

She leaves behind her beloved sister, Elizabeth Deschene; her cherished children, Lisa Briscoe (Stuart), Julie Briscoe (Angelo), Rick Briscoe, and Todd Fraser (Natalie). She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Patrick (Rita), Richard, Jonathan, Ethan, Walker, and Marley, as well as her great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, dear friends, and the many people whose lives she enriched with her kindness, wisdom, and friendship.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the nurses, staff, and caregivers at Seaview Manor for the compassion, kindness, and dignity they showed Pat throughout her time there. Their care and support brought comfort to both Pat and her family, who always knew she was receiving the very best care.

Pat leaves behind a legacy of strength, resilience, friendship, and love. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, NS, 902-539-7175. Visitation will take place at T.J. Tracey funeral home on Thursday, August 27, from 3 – 4 pm, followed by a service in the chapel at 4, Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating, a reception will be held afterward.
