Joan Nicholl, 92

We the family and friends of Joan Nicholl, announce her passing on Monday, August 10, 2026, in the Seaview Manor. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Archie and Katie (MacDonald) McIntyre.


Joan worked in advertising with the Cape Breton Post for over 38 years, a job in which she was immensely proud of.


Joan is survived by close cousins Dorothy and Marylou MacDougall, as well as several other cousins, brother-in-law Hayward Nicholl and sister-in-law Jean Walsh, and nieces and nephews in Newfoundland. Also surviving is her lifelong childhood friend Ruth MacLeod from Lake Road.


Special thank you to the staff at Seaview Manor, Glace Bay, Palliative Care and Dr. Michael Gallivan and Dr. Bennett, for the care and compassion given to Joan throughout the years. To Diane MacLeod, Kathy MacDougall, and Blair Slade for the years of kindness and friendship.


Along with her parents, Joan was predeceased by her husband John Nicholl.


Cremation has taken place under the care and compassion of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Glace Bay. A graveside service will take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens at a later time.
