Melinda Crocker, 52

With deep sadness, we, the family of Melinda Crocker, 52, of Glace Bay, announce her unexpected passing, on August 4, 2026, in Sydney, N.S. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of Betty Crocker and the late Frank Crocker.

Melinda had a knack for doing DIY house projects, and crafting. No matter where she lived, or what her budget was, she always found a way to make it feel like home. She had a love for Bon Jovi, her animals, spending time and making memories with her friends and family and being a nanny to her three grandchildren. Melinda worked at the Sydney call center for what felt like an eternity, before getting hired at Citizenship and Immigration with the Government of Canada. She was extremely proud of herself, and how hard she worked to get to where she was.

Melinda is survived by her partner Bud; a son Richard (Alyssa and Jolene) Bonnar; a daughter Miranda Crocker; two brothers: Ricky (Betty) and Brent (Ursulina); two sisters: Lana and Lisa (Eric); three grandchildren: Ivy, Axel and Raven; as well as several nephews and nieces.

She was predeceased by her dad Frank and favorite dog Kelly.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., and a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m., with Fr. Norman MacPhee presiding, all in T.J. Tracey Funeral Home, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, (902-849-4199).

In lieu of flowers a donation may be made the the Elizabeth Fry Society, or the Cape Breton SPCA.

We, as a family, want to say a very special thank you to Melinda’s partner Bud for showing her what true love really is, for showing her the kindness, and compassion she so deserved; thank you for encouraging her to send time with her grandbabies, inviting everyone over for meals, and for taking over the cooking. Since the day you became a part of her life, this is the happiest we have ever seen her, and we cannot thank you enough for that. “Don’t waste your time thinkin bout yesterday’s blues.” Jon Bon Jovi.
