I was fortunate to work with Al for many years, he was generous when sharing his extensive subject knowledge and showing his support to colleagues. He had a great sense of humour, a quick smile, a keen ability to put things in perspective, and, he made the workplace memorable. Al always brought warmth and laughter to any of our special events the McNamara’s planned in Cape Breton, as well our daughters wedding in Sussex NB. As soon as he got his wedding invite he was on the phone to confirm his attendance. It was important to him, and that is how he treated his extended families. I’ll be forever grateful for Al supporting my career way back when I was just looking for my big break! He’s a big reason for where I am today, because of his guidance and caring! For that I’ll be eternally grateful. Thank you Al for being an awesome Brother-in-law, and a 100 percent genuine person. Love always.

I worked with Al, Big Al or Motto Man in the same department for many years and he was truly a larger than life character who was intelligent, capable,funny and always entertaining, in a very good way. Al and I had many interesting work interactions over the years. Although we were adversaries, it was always with mutual respect, humour and friendly bantering. And when times were tough, he had your back and he always had a game plan.
