Allan Francis Walker passed away on July 26, 2026, at the age of 78.

A man full of character and humour, Al brought warmth and laughter to those around him. He dedicated more than 35 years to a rewarding career in Human Resources with the Province of Nova Scotia, where his personality, quick wit and indomitable spirit, made a lasting impression on colleagues and friends alike.

Al is survived by his wife, Sheila (McNamara) Walker; his daughter, Elizabeth Murphy; his grandchildren, Jacqueline (Jackie) Murphy and Devon Murphy; and his great-grandson (and special buddy), Damon. He is also dearly missed by his sisters, Grace (Brian), Rosalee (Lloyd), Theresa, and Patsy; his brother, Wendell; nephews, Robin (Thanyaphat) Walker, Billy Bishop and Jim Gagnon.

Al cherished his McNamara extended family and friendships he had with Dougie Laffin, Red Glazebrook and the Preston St Gang; Ross Sheppard, Cameron MacNeil, and Dave McEachern…The Boys; Matt Jardine and the Beagle Boys; along with many other friends whose lives he touched over the years.

He was predeceased by his son, John Wesley Walker; his parents, Vera and John Walker; and his brother-in-laws, Dwight McCracken; Joey McNamara and John Eddy McNamara.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to all the healthcare providers who supported Al with kindness and compassion throughout the past few months.

In accordance with Al’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at a future date to honour a life well lived. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
