Brenda Anne MacInnis Obituary
Brenda Anne MacInnis
Glace Bay, N.S.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brenda Anne MacInnis, who left this world peacefully on July 26, 2026, in New Waterford Hospital, after courageously battling Cancer. Brenda went to be with the Lord after living a full and beautiful life of 69 years.
Having been born in Glace Bay, N.S., she was lovingly predeceased by her mother and father, Mary and Peter Gillis, a sister, Patsy Gillis.
Brenda is survived by her devoted husband of 45 years, Robert MacInnis (Bob). She was the loving mother to her daughters Danella and Jessica MacInnis, and her son Joshua (Tai) MacInnis. She was the cherished sister of Robert Gillis (Bobby), Marie Briggs, Theresa (Collie) MacDonnell, Joan (Ronnie) Walker, Rose Tutty, and Cathy Graham. As well as a longtime friend Rose Marie Bedecki. Brenda was also the loving grandmother to three beautiful grandsons.
After graduation from St. Michaels Senior High in 1976 Brenda moved to Halifax and began her healthcare career at the VG Hospital; from there she moved to Calgary and gained experience by working in labs at various hospitals. Brenda took pride in her career at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, where she worked hard and dedicated many years of her life to helping others. She retired as a Ward Clerk in 2022. Brenda was the kind of person who would do anything for anyone and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Her caring nature extended far beyond her work.
Brenda and Bob started their family while living in Calgary, they then moved their family to Glace Bay where they built their home and raised their three children and were surrounded by family and friends. Family was everything to Brenda; some of her happiest memories are with family, especially during the summer when her children and grandchildren would come home. Brenda enjoyed beach days, Sunday drives, and spending time with those she loved.
Brenda cherished her friendships and the special time spent with the people that meant so much to her. She enjoyed going for lunch with friends, taking trips with her sisters, and making memories along the way. Brenda had a gift for making people feel loved, cared for, and never alone.
Brenda will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her strength and kindness will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though she is no longer with us, the beautiful life she built and the love she gave so freely will live on through her family, friends, and the many memories she leaves behind.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, from 1-2 p.m., and a Celebration of Life to honor Brenda will follow, with Fr. Norman MacPhee presiding, all in T.J. Tracey Funeral Home, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay. (902) 849-4199.
