John Lawrence "Jake" Connolly Obituary
We regret to announce the passing of John (Jake) L. Connolly, 73, of Halifax on July 18, 2026 at the Victoria General Palliative Care Unit. Born in Halifax, Jake was the son of the late Gerald and Margaret Connolly.
He was an avid sports fan and collector, playing on hockey teams in his younger years.
Jake worked for many years for Imperial Oil and also R.V Wheel Estate, Country Hearth and Fireplace, and most recently, Dexters Construction; but he loved doing handyman jobs on the side.
Jake is survived by his son, Scott Connolly, Dartmouth; daughter, Jacalyn Connolly, Dartmouth; his partner of many years, Carolyn Sawler (Bridgewater); brother, Gerald F. Connolly Jr. (Patricia), former wife, Diane, Dartmouth; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Karen O’Neil.
He had a lifelong love of animals, especially his beloved cat, Xena, his little “Baby” who brought him so much joy.
Special thanks to Dr. Moeller and Monica and the angels of 7A Palliative Care at the V.G. Thank you for the incredible care and compassion you showed our Dad.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey, 71 McQuade Lake Crescent, Beechville. There will be no visitation. A celebration of life and family burial will take place at a later date.
