We are saddened to announce the passing of Alan Burden, 75, on Tuesday, June 30, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Born in Ryde, Isle of Wight, England, Alan was the son of the late Gordon and Pamela (Watson) Burden.

Alan came to Canada in 1975 and made his living in all things fiberglass; from small boats to early involvement in the Ovatek Survival Capsule. He was given the nickname Mr. Fibreglass.

He is survived by his loving wife, Hillary Burden, of 55 years; son, Lee; daughters, Dawn (Ralph), and Clare (Brent); brother, Keith (Rosalin); sisters, Alma Miller (Robert) and Carol Glynn (Tony); and five grandchildren, Devin, Stephanie, Lucas, Aaron, and Adrian.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, NS. As per Alan’s wishes, there will be no service.
