Linda Currie, 79

It comes with great sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Currie who passed away due complications from surgery on July 1,2026, at the age 79, in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Newfoundland, Linda was the daughter of the late Walter and Louise Vokey.

At an early age, Linda moved to Ontario and there she met her husband Paul, where they started their own business and resided for many years. They retired back home to Cape Breton in 1987. Mom was a highly active member of Branch 78 Royal Canadian Legion, Dominion, for many years. Her time was spent volunteering in the kitchen and selling 50/50 tickets, as well as working Bingo when required. Mom loved to play darts and bingo and met many lifelong friends along the way. She was the last surviving member of her family.

Linda will be sadly miss by her children Danette (Wayne) of Reserve Mines, Vernon, Dominion, Troy (Christine), Ontario; 12 cherished grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren; Inlaws Arlen, Melvin (Cathy), Stephanie (Bill), Angus (Yvonne), Beverly, Anita (David), Johnny, Sheldon (Kay) and Doreen (Jimmy); as well as many nieces, nephews and one special cousin Amelia.

Along with her parents, Mom was predeceased by her sisters and brothers Elizabeth, Lucy, Mable, Malcolm, Juanita, Eileen, Verna, Joan, Walter, Rosalind, Frederick, and adopted brother Wallace, as well as her in-laws Melvin and Bernadette Currie, sisters-in-law Estelle, Maryann, and Lillian.

As per her wishes, cremation has taken place under the care and compassion of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay. There will be no visitation or service at this time.
