Jaclynn Estelle MacDonald Obituary

The family of Jaclynn Estelle MacDonald regret to announce her passing, following a fire at her home in Clyde, Alberta, on May 11, 2026.

Jaclynn was born in Sydney, grew up in North Sydney before making her home in Alberta. She was a graduate of Memorial High School, Sydney Mines. She attended St. Mary’s and Mount St. Vincent Universities, Halifax. For many years, she was employed with Regal Tax Services, Sherwood Park.

Always a social butterfly, she enjoyed being around people, especially during the parties and gatherings at her summer home on the Mira. Whether she was swimming, snowboarding, camping, boating or enjoying music, Jaclynn embraced life with enthusiasm.

Jaclynn is survived by her parents, Jack and Mary MacDonald of North Sydney; her sister, Anjanette, and nephew, Aiden both of Sydney River; and partner, Sandy Egan of Alberta. She is also survived by her maternal aunts, Colleen (Gerard) Keigan of North Sydney, Madonna (Greg) MacKay of Bedford, and Anne (Keith) Currie of Waverly; her paternal aunts, Jane (Dice) of Glace Bay, and Rose (Jack) MacDonald of Dartmouth, as well as her many cousins. Jaclynn held a special place in her heart for cousins, Frances Lybacki and Mary Huskins.

Jaclynn was predeceased by her grandparents, Donald and Nan Currie of Sydney, and Jeanette and Nelson (her beloved Grampie) MacDonald of Glace Bay.

A family service conducted by Reverend Douglas MacDonald of St. Joseph Parish, North Sydney, has been held.

Jaclynn’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Constable Behzad Ibrar of the Weslock RCMP, her neighbours and friends, the Clyde Fire Department and first responders who did everything they could to help Jaclynn. Thank you to our family for the beautiful celebration of Jaclynn’s life held following the service, and those who travelled to be there to support us during this difficult time. Your love and kindness has made a difficult time easier to navigate.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Sydney.

Rest in peace, your soul flies free.

In our hearts you’ll always be.
