It is with broken hearts that the family of Glendon “Glen” Farrell Vye, of Halifax, Nova Scotia, announce his passing on July 1, 2026, at Parkstone Enhanced Care, surrounded in love by family and friends.

Glen was born on February 18, 1949, in Newcastle, New Brunswick, to the late William “Bill” and Althea “Bunny” (Farrell) Vye.

He is survived by his faithful and devoted wife, Beth (Young); his much-loved daughter, Erin (Andrew) Cogswell; and his beloved granddaughters, Mya and Riley Cogswell, who brought immeasurable joy to his life. He is also survived by his sister, Debby (Roger) White; his brother, Derek (Kathy) Vye; his nephews, Andrew, Matthew, and Jonathan White, Wendell Vye; his niece, Samantha Seely; his great-nieces and nephews; and extended family in the Miramichi and Moncton, New Brunswick.

In addition to his parents, Glen was predeceased by his cherished daughter, Amanda Vye.

Glen began his career in sales and marketing during the emerging years of the computer industry, working in both the public and private sectors. He later earned his Bachelor of Commerce degree from Dalhousie University and concluded his professional career as a financial advisor in Halifax.

A man of deep faith, integrity and compassion, Glen was an active member of Fairview United Church in Halifax, Wilmot United Church in Fredericton, and Hope United Church in Halifax. He valued the friendships, fellowship, and sense of community he found within these church families. Passionate about outreach and pastoral care, he contributed in countless ways to church life, quietly offering his time, talents, encouragement, and support wherever they were needed. An example is his participation in Street Ministry, connecting with and providing support to some of society's most vulnerable people.

Service to others was a defining part of Glen's life. During his lifetime, he volunteered with the Palliative Care Unit at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton, New Brunswick, and gave his time to residents at Parkstone Enhanced Care. He also supported the Parker Street Food and Furniture Bank Christmas Hamper Program and he served as President of the Prospect Road District Lions Club. Glen was recognized for over 300 donations of blood and platelets to Canadian Blood Services. Whether through organized service or simple acts of kindness, Glen found fulfillment in helping others and making a difference in his community.

Above all else, Glen's greatest joy was his family. Over the years he cherished every opportunity to spend time with his daughters and granddaughters and never missed a chance to proudly share pictures of "the girls" from his wallet with anyone willing to look. The love he had for his family was evident in everything he did, and the memories they created together will be treasured forever.

Glen was a skilled carpenter and talented woodworker who was always willing to put his immense abilities to work helping others. He took particular pride in renovating the family cottage in East Linden, where he spent countless hours mowing grass, clearing land, working on projects, and enjoying time with the family he so adored. He enjoyed pursuits that reflected his patience, craftsmanship, and attention to detail, as well as his love of the outdoors and delight in a job well done.

An avid gardener and enthusiastic baker, Glen especially enjoyed baking for others. Family, friends, and neighbours looked forward to his famous chocolate fudge and exceptional homemade bread, both prepared with the same care and generosity that characterized every aspect of his life.

Glen also maintained a lifelong fascination with heavy equipment, particularly 18-wheeler transport trucks. He took great pride in earning and maintaining his commercial driver's licence, and he never lost his appreciation for the skill, precision, and hard work associated with the industry.

Glen will be remembered for his kindness, generosity of spirit, quick wit, and quiet strength. He leaves behind a wonderful legacy of graciousness and caring for all. Glen will be deeply missed and remembered fondly by all who knew him.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to their relatives and dedicated friends for the love, support, and encouragement they have received throughout this difficult journey. Special thanks are extended to the staff of Seton Hall at Parkstone Enhanced Care for their kindness, professionalism, and compassionate care shown to Glen and ongoing support to Beth during his stay.

A funeral service celebrating Glen's life will be held on Sunday, July 12, at 2:00 p.m. at Hope United Church, 3055 Connaught Avenue, Halifax, Nova Scotia.
