Lois May Laprise Obituary

LAPRISE, LOIS MAY - Age 91 of Halifax, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Lois Laprise on June 29th, 2026, at QEII Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Amanda and John Redmond. She was predeceased by her first husband, Albert White; and her second husband, Joseph Laprise. She is survived by her six children, Peter White (Louise) Cache Creek, BC, Paul White (Maxine) of Dartmouth, Sharon MacDonald (Ronald) of Whites Lake, Dale Laprise of Dartmouth, Mark Laprise (Kathy) of Lower Sackville, Lori Darcy (Robert) of Prospect Bay.

Lois is the last Redmond, as all her five siblings have passed before her. Lawrence Redmond, Donald Redmond, Marion Crosby, Edward Redmond, and Vernon Redmond. She has six grandchildren: Vanessa White, Evan White (Catherine), Nicole Darcy (Paul), Matt Darcy, Amanda Laprise (Thomas), and is predeceased by her grandson, Peter J White. There are six great-grandchildren (Jordan, Kiley, Nathan, Macie, Hunter, and Hayden) and numerous cousins.

Lois Laprise lived a wonderful life in Nova Scotia, surrounded by most of her family, as we all lived close by, except Peter. Peter always came to visit at least once or twice a year.

Mom loved to garden, loved the outdoors, camping on the Aspotogan Mountain, and a four-wheeler ride with my brother Mark at his cottage. Mom cared for Dad (Joe) for several years due to illness, and when he passed in 2002, Mom began to travel with her best friend, Anne Letourneau, and sometimes her daughter, Sharon, joined them. She traveled from Nova Scotia across the country by Train and took many trips to European countries and Newfoundland and Labrador that she truly enjoyed. Alaska and the Territories finished her Canadian destinations.

A funeral service will be held on July 9, 2026, in New Life Community Church in Hatchet Lake at 11am. Reception to follow and burial at Sunrise Park Inter-Faith Cemetery.
