Howard Bruce Oliver September 11, 1947 – June 26, 2026 It is with great sadness that the family announces the unexpected passing of Howard Bruce "Bruce" Oliver at his home in Halifax on June 26, 2026, at the age of 78.

Born on September 11, 1947, in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Bruce spent his early years in Cape Breton, a place that forever held a special place in his heart. Throughout his life, he also lived in Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick during his long and dedicated career with the Royal Bank of Canada, though Nova Scotia was always home.

Bruce was predeceased by his beloved wife, Judith Anne (Presby) Oliver; his parents, Howard Alexander Oliver and Willamena Mae (MacDonald) Oliver; and his brothers, Harvey and Jimmy.

He leaves behind his loving children, Richard (Jennifer), Paul (Theresa), and Elizabeth (James). He was a proud grandfather to Jessica, Anthony, James, Amie, Elora, and Eldon and was delighted to welcome several great-grandchildren into the family. He is also survived by his brother, Sandy (Mimmi).

Bruce found his greatest happiness in the outdoors. Whether fishing, walking the shoreline, or simply enjoying nature, he appreciated the quiet beauty of Nova Scotia's coast and never lost his deep connection to Cape Breton.

Bruce will be remembered for his love of family and friends, his quiet appreciation for the simple pleasures of life, and the kindness he shared with those around him.

His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. The family will announce arrangements for a celebration of Bruce's life at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice or to an organization dedicated to preserving Nova Scotia's natural environment.
