It is with broken hearts that the family of Dolores MacLeod, 91, announce her passing surrounded by her family on June 13, 2026, at Seaview Manor, Glace Bay, where she resided the past three years.

Dolores was born in Port Morien to Phyllis (Robinson) and Gordon Wadden. She grew up in Port Morien as the second oldest of eight children. She was always very proud to say, “I came from Port Morien” and enjoyed participation in their celebrations such as Morien Memories, attending with her sisters and looked forward to reconnecting with extended family and friends.

After her marriage to Danny MacLeod, Port Caledonia became her home where she and Danny raised their only child, daughter Deborah (Debbie) and Port Caledonia remained her home after the passing of her beloved Danny in 1988. Living just across the road from her daughter her closeness allowed Dolores to provide immense strength and support to her daughter and her family.

Mom loved to cook and bake. She insisted on sharing it with whoever came to her home to visit. She meticulously cared for her home and property. Gardening was a special hobby as she had a natural green thumb. She was very proud when someone commented on her beautiful yard.

Mom was devoted to her immediate and extended family, neighbors and friends. She enjoyed outings with family and friends including drives, shopping days, concerts and a good meal and cup of tea.

Mom remained at home until illness required her move to Seaview Manor in Glace Bay where she remained until her passing.

Dolores is survived by her daughter Debbie of Port Caledonia, brother Wayne Wadden, St. Catharines, Ontario, sister Muriel (Ron) Walsh of Brantford, Ontario, sister-in-law Jessie MacLeod of Port Caledonia with whom she shared a special bond, as well as sister-in-law Valerie Wadden of Donkin. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jeff Burns and Natalie Burns (Ryan Marman) and her precious great-grandchildren Blake Marman and Jacob MacLellan. Mom also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who had a special place in her heart.

Dolores is predeceased by husband Daniel (Danny) Fraser, parents Phyllis and Gordon Wadden, in-laws Sarah & George MacLeod, sisters Mora Walton, Joyce Daley, Phyllis Marsh, Alma MacPherson, brother Gordon (Buddy) Wadden, sister-in-law Arlene Wadden, brothers in law Richard Walton, Ronald Daley, Joseph Marsh and Cameron MacPherson.

Visitation will be held Thursday July 9, 2026, from 12-1 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 1:00 p.m. in T.J Cremation & Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve Street, Glace Bay, (902) 849-4199.

Interment to follow for family members at St. Luke’s cemetery, Donkin.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Seaview Manor Seniors Foundation or Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or charity of choice.

A heartfelt thank you to the entire staff of Seaview Manor for the wonderful care, compassion and support provided to Mom during her stay. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
