It is with great sorrow, that we the family of Marion (Betty) Elizabeth Moore, of Glace Bay, announce her passing in the New Waterford Hospital, on Friday, June 19, 2026. Born in Glace Bay, Betty was the daughter of the late John and Irene (Warren) Swartzack.

Betty was strong, and full of life. She loved music and enjoyed the challenge of a good crossword or puzzle and appreciated the TV game shows Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy; and had a special gift for making people laugh. Her 71 years of life were filled with love, laughter, and countless memories that will be treasured by those who knew her. After 37 years with H&R Block, she leaves behind a legacy of dedication, professionalism, and genuine care for her clients.

Betty is survived by sons: Dale (Pam) and Allen (Susie); daughter: Jerilyn (Rob); brothers: Joey Swartzack (Colleen) and Anthony Swartzack (Marianne); brother-in-law Johnny Moore (Tracey); sisters: Jacquline MacKinnon, Anne Ellsworth (Harvey), Jerusha Yorke, Cyntia Peach (John); sisters-in-law: Bernice Deveaux (Tommy), and Doretta Moore; grandchildren: Justin (Leanne), Jess, Noah, Kayla (Derek), Gavin and Oliver.

Along with her parents, Betty was predeceased by her husband Jerry Moore, brothers (in infancy) George and Joseph, Jimmy and Johnny, brothers-in-law Simon MacKinnon, Gerry Yorke, Roy Moore, Cecil Moore; sisters-in-law Brenda Darroch, Judy Swartzack and Beatrice Roberts.

As per her wishes, cremation has taken place under the care and compassion of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay. (902) 849-4199. There will be no visitation.

A private graveside service will take place at a later date.

Special thank you to her three children Dale, Allen and Jerilyn who have been her rock throughout all of this. We would also like to give a special thank you to Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Cancer Unit, Cardiac Clinic, Palliative Care Unit, New Waterford Hospital, VON, EHS, Doctors and Nurses who looked after Betty through this challenging time. Thank you as well to all our family and friends who came to visit and had a cup of tea with Betty.
