James (JimJimmy) Hubert Fahey Obituary
James (Jim/Jimmy) Hubert Fahey, 73
Reserve Mines/Glace Bay, N.S.
It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of our beloved father James (Jim/Jimmy) Hubert Fahey, who passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday June 16th, 2026. Born in Glace Bay and growing up in Reserve Mines, Nova Scotia, Jim was the son of the late William and Pheobe Fahey.
Welder by trade brought Jim and his family to Ontario to build a life with them there. His time in the industry was brief as his home was in Cape Breton. He and the family came back to the island, residing in Reserve Mines, to finally enjoy the comforts of home. Jim had several jobs when he returned, his latest which led him to retirement was with Canada Post delivering parcels all over Glace Bay and surrounding areas.
Jim enjoyed the simple things in life like going for drives, having his tea with triple cream and triple sugar, parking at Tims on McKeen St watching the comings and goings of the town or chatting with friends who pulled up alongside. He also loved watching sports with a cold Keiths and a pound of wings on a Saturday night. His favorite passion in life was his family. Whether that meant travelling out west to see them or a drive through town, Jim always made time to call or visit with his family and friends.
Jim was a huge Montreal Canadians and Blue Jays fan. You could never visit him and not see him watching a hockey or ball game. He loved getting new sports fan gear of each respective team which always led to him saying “Booga, Booga.” This was how you knew Jim loved something. A memory we will forever cherish is when Jim seen his beloved Habs at the Bell Centre last year. “A trip of a lifetime” as he recalled.
Jim is survived and will be greatly missed by his sons Billy (Stacey) Spruce Grove, AB, Jimmy (Shellyse) Dominion, NS, his favorite grandchildren Avery (Spruce Grove) and Jasper a.k.a the Jazz Man (Dominion), his sisters Teresa and Willena of Glace Bay, his brother Junior (Hilda) Ontario, along with his nieces and nephews. Also survived by Margaret (Lever) Fahey, mother to Billy and Jimmy.
Besides his parents, Jim is predeceased by his sister Mary Jo, Jean, two siblings in infancy, and his brother-in-law Roddie MacKillop.
Our family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care dad received by the doctors, nurses, and staff on 3 West at the Glace Bay Hospital. We are forever grateful. Special thanks to the Palliative team (Linda Murphy and Dr. Giorno), homecare workers and Allan McPhee for providing great care for dad at home.
Cremation has taken place under the care and compassion of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St, Glace Bay (902-849-4199). Visitation will be held on Thursday June 18th, 2026, from 12 to 1pm with a service following.
