Eddie Comer, 76, of Donkin, passed away on June 9, 2026, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital ICU. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Eddie and Rodina Comer.

Eddie worked for 31 years as a crane operator at the Sydney Steel Plant, beginning at age 17 until its closure in 2000. He was a proud member of Branch 5 Donkin Legion. In his younger years, he enjoyed baseball, broomball, and playing cards. Eddie and Pauline shared nearly 53 wonderful years together. They enjoyed their Saturday drives and trying new restaurants, especially along the Cabot Trail. A devoted father, he spent countless hours at the rink and ball field supporting his children. He was a proud grandfather who enjoyed watching his first granddaughter, Carlyn graduate, cheering on Callie and Evie by watching their hockey games online, and following Casey’s latest milestones and photos.

Besides his wife, Pauline, Eddie is survived by his sons, Corey, Jordan, and Joshua (Erika);daughter, Kerri (Colin); David (Heather), Bernie, and Blair; sister Carol; brother-in-law Frank (Susan); sisters-in-law Mary (John) and Ruth; grandchildren Carlyn, Callie, Evie, and Casey; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Eddie was predeceased by his son, Mark; brother, Wayne; sisters Linda, Gail, and Christine; special sister-in-law, Marion; a nephew Steven, as well as godson, Matt Somerton.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, (902-849-4199). Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., in Tracey's Funeral Home, Glace Bay, Interment will follow at St. Gregory's Cemetery. Reception will be held at the Donkin Legion.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital ER and ICU, Dr. Hebb and the Cancer Centre, and the staff of Glace Bay Hospital 3 East for their care and compassion throughout Eddie’s illness.
