James Gordon Oldford, 74

Glace Bay/Loch Lomond, N.S.

We the family of James Gordon Oldford regret to announce his passing on April 22, 2026. Gordie was the son of the late Joe Oldford and Ethel (nee Taylor) Oldford of Glace Bay.

Gordie lived most of his life in Glace Bay and later moved to Loch Lomond where he loved to the outdoors, and was an avid fisherman, hunter, and gardener. Gordie was employed with the Sydney Steel Plant and Nova Scotia Power.

Gordie is survived by sisters Janice Barrett, Judy MacDonald, Lori (Tom) Begalki; brothers Keith (Eileen) Oldford, Shane (Erva) Oldford, Brad (Val) Crowdis, and Richard Crowdis; also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Along side Gordie’s parents, he was predeceased by his stepmother Barbara Oldford, stepsister Joanne, sisters Darlene, Karen, Kimberly, and brother Kevin.

Cremation has taken place under the care and compassion of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay. (902-849-4199). There will be no visitation, and a private family burial will take place at a later date.
