Evdokia (Eva) Vamvounis, 84

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Evdokia (Eva) Vamvounis, on June 9, 2026, at the age of 84. Born in Milos, Greece, she was the daughter of the late Eleftheria and Emmanuel Mavrogiannis.

Eva married her soul mate, and they made their home in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, where they lived together for almost 60 years. Eva was a seamstress who could alter and make anything she put her mind to. She was proud to have operated her own seamstress and tailoring shop for over 20 years.

She leaves behind her beloved husband, Theodore (Teddy); daughters, Irene (Danny) McDougall of Glace Bay and Eleftheria (Freada) Vamvounis of Edmonton; her grandchildren, Allie and Eva McDougall and Angelica (Travis Murphy) and Theodore Clarke; great-grandson, Beckett Murphy; sisters, Aggeliki Poulari and Antonia (Basilis Laios) of Greece; as well as many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Tasoula Vlahos of Greece, and several brothers and sisters-in-law.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the doctors and nurses on Three South and West at the Glace Bay Hospital (aka “the kids”), that cared for her in her final days.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. in T.J. Tracey's Funeral Home, 370 Reserve Street, Glace Bay, N.S. (902)849-4199.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. in Sts. Anargyroi Greek Orthodox Church, 17 Marconi St. Glace Bay.

Your love was the foundation of our family, and your memory will forever be our strength.
