We, the family of Barry William Cusack, 75, regret to announce his passing on Friday, June 5, 2026, at the Palliative Care Unit of Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in Sydney, Barry was the son of the late John and Joan Cusack.

Barry was a bricklayer for over 40 years and also worked in construction. He had his own company for many years and was a Red Seal Journeyman. He enjoyed having lots of company, playing ring toss, fishing, and playing cards. He also looked forward to our annual July 1st weekend with family and close friends.

Barry is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia of 52 years; sons, John (J.J.) (Bobbi-Ann) and Barry Jr.; brothers, Donald (Linda), Wayne (Lynn), and Jimmy (Shellina); sisters, Colleen, Linda, Rosemary, Pearl (Gary), and Kathleen (John); grandchildren, Tyson, Jesse, and the oldest, Dyllan; one great-grandchild, Westen; sister-in-law, Marie; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Barry was predeceased by his sister, Carol Anthony; brother, John; and brothers-in-law, Art Jones, Brenden MacIntyre, and Gordie Covin.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, NS, 902-539-7175. As per the family’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service.
