Malcolm Gerard Smith Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Malcolm Smith, who left us suddenly on June 8, 2026 at the age of 38. Born in Hadleyville, Nova Scotia.
Malcolm grew up with a deep love for the simple pleasures in life and a strong devotion to his family. He was a proud graduate of J.L. Ilsley High School, and most teachers’ favourite student.
From a young age, Malcolm possessed a curious and hands-on mind. Growing up, he could often be found meticulously rebuilding model cars or listening to the familiar, comforting sounds of Newfoundland music. This early passion for mechanics grew into a lifelong interest in cars and a deep love for being in the country.
Some of his fondest memories were spent in the summers with his grandparents, Lloyd and Ellen Myles. He treasured the time spent working alongside his grandfather, learning not just practical skills, but the value of hard work and family bonds.
Malcolm is survived by his loving mother, Emma Cook. He will be deeply missed by his siblings: his sisters, Chantal Cook (partner Matthew), Abby; brothers, River, Aaron, and Dawson. He was a proud and loving uncle to his nieces, Lilly and Zara, and his nephew, Junior. He also leaves behind his beloved grandfather, Lloyd Myles, as well as many extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.
He was predeceased by his father, Kenneth Myles; his cherished grandmother, Ellen Myles; and his grandparents, Florence and Harley Jack.
Malcolm will be remembered for his kind heart, his quiet passions, his sense of humour and the love he shared with those closest to him.
Rest in peace.
