Theresa Maxine Taylor Obituary

Theresa Taylor, of Sydney, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully and in the company of her family on May 21, 2026, at the age of 91.

Born and raised in Sydney, Theresa spent her entire life surrounded by the community, friends, and family she loved so dearly.

She was the daughter of the late Kathleen “Doots” and Max Ash. Theresa was a very intelligent woman and at one point, attended UCB for five years, earning a diploma in religious education. Her devotion to her community was reflected in her more than 50 years of dedicated service as a member of the Catholic Women’s League. She was a passionate bowler, an enthusiastic Tarabish player, and a proud co-founder of the Crafting League at the Waterfront Pavilion in Sydney. In her later years, Theresa became a fierce advocate for dignity in long-term care. Driven by courage and kindness, she never stopped fighting for better conditions, meeting with leaders and pushing for systemic improvements right up until her final days. Her advocacy leaves a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire.

Above all, Theresa treasured her family and the deep friendships she nurtured over eight decades. She loved and was loved by many.

She is survived by her son, Michael MacIntyre; her sister and closest confidante, Jo Ann Ross (Gary); her brother Bernard Ash (Ursula), her niece, Sherri Ross (Rob Sawler); her beloved grandsons, Paul Pothier (Megan) and Kevin Hart; her great-grandson, Andrew Dean; her great-great-grandson, Asher O’Leary; and several dear nieces and nephews.

Theresa was predeceased by her loving husband, Everett Taylor; her daughter, Arlene MacIntyre; her sister, Lillian McMullin (Joe); and her brother, Max Ash (Mary).

The family extends a heartfelt, special thank you to the staff at The Cove Guest Home. Theresa loved many of the staff members and always warmly commented, “They’re so good to me.”
