Jean Jerrison Martin (nee Roe) - Age 71 of Port Howe NS, passed away May 30, 2026 in the Cumberland Regional Health Centre.

Born in Halifax, NS, she was the daughter of the late, Harvey and Reta Roe.

Jean was a beach girl from the very start. Malagash was her happy place where she spent her summers with family and friends.

She loved swimming, taking walks along the Northumberland Strait, and sitting on her special rock where she would write and reflect.

Jean was a retired teacher who taught at St. Andrews and Sir Charles Tupper schools in Halifax. She was a scholar who carried on a passion for books and writing her entire life.

Jean is survived by sisters-in-law, Linda Roe, Heather Rowe, and Nancy McDougall.

She is also survived by niece, Jennifer Roe with whom she shared a special bond and great niece Jorja Roe-Allen who Jean thought the world of and who could always make Jean laugh with her antics.

Jean was also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents Jean was predeceased by her husband, Stephen Martin; brothers, Bryan and Edward (Ted)

There will be no visitation or service as per Jean’s wishes.

Special thanks to the ICU staff at Cumberland Regional Health Centre, Amherst, for their care and utmost respect and dignity towards Jean in her final days.
