Frederick Christian Tucker Obituary

With broken hearts we announce the passing of Frederick Christian Tucker (Freddie) 75 of Brookside, on May 22, 2026, at the QEll Hospital, Halifax, N.S.

Born to Guy and Irene Tucker. He was the youngest of 9 children. Freddie was a Pipe Fitter by trade who worked across several provinces throughout his career, including contributing to the construction of the SkyDome in Toronto. He spent his final working years at the Halifax Shipyards.

Freddie was a jack-of-all-trades and master of none. He could fix just about anything. Known for his green thumb and abundant vegetable gardens, he had a gift for making just about anything grow. He could eat a peach, toss the pit on the ground, and somehow end up with a tree. He was also an exceptional cook. Give him a nearly empty fridge and he'd still manage to whip up something delicious. His meals were legendary not because they were fancy, but because they were unmistakably Freddie - hearty, improvised, and always good. Freddie had a sharp wit and a mischievous streak. He never missed an opportunity to get a rise out of people, and his humour-sometimes subtle, sometimes bold-was one of the many ways he connected with those around him. If you were around Freddie, you were probably laughing, rolling your eyes, or both. Freddie was a skilled hunter, with a knack for spotting what everyone else seemed to miss. He loved hunting season with his son, Chris, where the camp was full of laughter, stories, and late nights around the card table with friends and family. If there was a poker game, Freddie was in it - usually contributing more to the pot than he ever took out. He enjoyed playing the poker machines at the Legion.

He is survived by his partner of 32 years, Heather Slaunwhite; his children, Chris (Kelly), Craig, and Michelle; and his stepchildren, Angela (Hawk), Craig, and Shaun (Anne). He is also survived by nine grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. He leaves behind his sisters, Dorothy, Beverley (David), Marlene, and Nancy (Peter); his brothers, Ronald (Barb) and Blaine; and his sister-in-law, Sandra, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Irene (Allan); his brother, Arthur; his brothers-in-law, Sydney and Harry; and his sister-in-law, Veronica.

A celebration of his life will be held in the Whites Lake Legion on June 21, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. where all who loved him are welcome to gather and share memories.

Cremation has taken place, and the family will gather for burial at a later date. Freddie leaves behind a legacy of laughter, full gardens, great meals, and countless stories that will be told - and embellished - for years to come.
