William John Wozney, lovingly known as Bill, was born on January 8, 1950, and passed peacefully into God’s presence on May 17, 2026. A Bluenoser by choice, this gentle giant’s prairie roots bloomed into a life defined by faith, love, and service in the Halifax region of Nova Scotia.

Bill was the beloved son of, Leo and Mary Wozney. He is survived by his sisters, Betty Victoria (Hans) Seidenthal and Sonya Jean (Dwight) Ness; by Cindy (Werner), the love of his life for 53 years; by his children, Paul (Lori), Rachel (Scott) Burris, and Amy (Eric Abbott) Wozney; and by his cherished grandchildren Jonah, Lois, Lila, Samson, Rylan, Hudsyn, Sunny Rose, and Ben.

Family was everything to Bill. Nothing brought him greater joy than gathering everyone around the table for a meal. To Bill, family was defined not only by blood, but also by love and belonging. Over the years, many “adopted” sons and daughters found encouragement, guidance, and a special place in his heart and home.

Bill was a builder in every sense of the word. A self-taught carpenter and handyman, he found joy in repairing, restoring, and creating. His favourite projects transformed worn or discarded materials into beautiful, lasting pieces that reminded others they were valued and loved.

His life’s work was loving people and nurturing faith. He was a church planter, a local church pastor, a voice of faith and encouragement via radio in Nova Scotia and across Europe, a mentor and spiritual father, a builder of bridges and unity within the Christian community, a leadership developer locally and internationally, and an encourager of children, youth, families and seniors. The hallmarks of his ministry were humility, hospitality and a passion for the presence and communion of the Holy Spirit.

Visitation will be held in Faith City Church on Thursday, June 18, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will take place in Faith City Church on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception. Burial will take place at a later date.
