With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dave Hanna, 91, on May 17, 2026.

Born on May 1, 1935, in Sydney, Dave was the son of the late Mansour and Laura (Shebib) Hanna.

Dave leaves behind a loving family who will miss him dearly: his children, Blaine, Billy (Candice), Laura (Allison), Alec (Faye), and Terry; his sisters, Theresa (the late Jack) Decourcy, and Marina (the late John) Cann; his sisters-in-law, Josephine Hanna, Rose Hanna, Aleta Spampinato (Carl), and Bernita Simms; along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife June (Morinet); his daughter, Angela; and his brothers, John, Billy, and Peter.

Dave had a true gift and passion when it came to fishing. Those who spent time with him will remember not only his skill, but his patience, his stories, and the quiet happiness he found there. Above all, he will be remembered as a devoted family man whose love ran deep.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, NS, 902-539-7175. Honouring Dave’s wishes, there will be no service, a private family celebration and burial will occur at a later date.
