It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Joseph Jude MacIntyre. Joe returned to his loving Father in Heaven peacefully on May 15th, 2026, reunited with his beloved Barbara, surrounded by his adoring family.

Born in Inverness, Cape Breton on April 25, 1939, to John Alexander and Gladys MacIntyre, Joe grew up in Armdale and made it his home for life. He completed Halifax Vocational School in Heating & Ventilation and went on to spend over 50 years in automotive service and sales, including a long and dedicated tenure with Steele Ford in Halifax.

Joe had an enduring love affair with the game of golf from the time he was a young man, and enjoyed many proud years of membership at Ashburn Golf Club. He also loved to fish, play pool and hockey, and had a deep passion for singing as a member of the Atlantic Swells Barbershop Group. He loved keeping up with news, politics and sports, and was known for his charismatic nature and his ability to always have a little joke to share. Devoted to his faith, his wife and his family, raising his children was his greatest achievement and the joy of his life.

He is survived by his three daughters: Jill (Bret) Thunell, Alpine, Utah; Jamie (Jorge) Martinez, Brooklin, Ontario; and Jina (Scott) Christieson, Brooklin, Ontario; and his four sons: Joel, Halifax; Jay (Alicia), Bedford; Josh (Amanda), Bedford; and Jesse (Tara), Beechville; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters Helen and Margo; brothers Gordon (Wendy), Ricky (Jackie), Gerry (Millie) and Michael; and dozens of nieces and nephews.

Joe was predeceased by his beloved wife of 53 years, Barbara Helen MacIntyre; his parents John and Gladys MacIntyre; sisters Barbara, Patsy, Marie and Marilyn; and brothers Jack, Doug and Donnie.

A graveside service and celebration of Joe’s life will be held at a future date. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
