Dianne Mary Ingraham Obituary
We, the family, are heartbroken to announce the passing of Dianne Mary Ingraham, 80, of Sydney, on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Sydney, Dianne was the daughter of the late Phillip Edmund and Mary Katherine Chiasson.
She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Winston; son, Winston Jr. (Jessica); twin daughters, Nicole (Shaun) and Colette (Cliff); brothers, Melvin (Carol), Arnold (Marilyn), Michael, and Gary (Jackie); sister, Carolyn (Jimmy); grandchildren, Jenna (Trent), Jocelyn, Ashley, Kenzie, Cory, Kara, Mason, Phillip, and Emily; great-grandson, Hudson; and one fur baby, Candi, as well as many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her mother-in-law, Verna.
Mom retired from the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in 2014, where she worked in the lab office. It was a career she loved and where she made many lifelong friends.
Mom’s first love was her family. She was the glue that held us together. She was a proud mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt. Mom was happiest when we were all together, which was often. Camping, going to the beach, bonfires, family barbeques, and playing cards with her many dear friends, were just a few of her favorite things.
Mom’s favorite pastime was travelling with the love of her life and husband, Winston. Dad was her constant companion whether it was cruising, long drives, or spending summers at their home in Baddeck.
Mom lit up any room she walked into. Her smile and love of life was contagious, and all who knew her loved her deeply.
Mom’s greatest joys were her nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was the proudest Nana and was always their biggest fan in everything they did and accomplished.
There is a huge void in our lives now, but she will live on in our hearts and in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved her.
Special thanks to the Heart Function Clinic at the CBRH and to the wonderful nurses at the CBRH Emergency Room whose care and compassion went above and beyond and made Mom’s last day on earth filled with love and dignity.
Donations in Mom’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
