Florence Elizabeth Gadd Obituary

Florence Elizabeth (Betty) Gadd

The world became a little less bright on May 9, 2026, when Betty Gadd left us after a life filled with laughter, adventure, and love.

Born on March 22, 1936, in North Sydney, Betty was a fierce advocate for education. After attaining her Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1985 and her Bachelor of Education Degree in 1986, she began a fulfilling teaching career. She loved to travel, and cherished her memories of her visits across Canada, as well as to the US, Europe, Australia and Indonesia.

Outside of work, Betty found joy in spending time with her family, as well as ceramics, painting, photography, and especially genealogy.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Robert Gadd; her daughters, Diane Reid (Colin), Ann Forget (James), and Amanda Gadd; her grandchildren, Emma and Thomas; and her sister, Mildred Higham. She was predeceased by her parents, George (Tip) and Dorcas Billard; and her sister, Audrey Sibley.

To abide by her wishes, no service will be held. Those who wish to honour her may do so by making a donation to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
