Gladys Ann MacLean, 74

Reserve Mines, N.S.

We the family of Gladys Ann MacLean of Reserve Mines, N.S., announce her passing on Sunday, May 3, 2026, in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in Glace Bay, Gladys was the daughter of the late Thomas and Olga (Golemiec) Gilmet.

Gladys was a homemaker and a great baker. In her younger years, she was employed with Shoppers Drug Mart and Ashby Nursery’s.

Gladys is survived by her husband John MacLean of 52 years; two daughters: Stephanie (Charles), Glace Bay, and Adele (Ryan), Halifax; two brothers Gerald, Toronto and step-brother Daniel, Toronto; a sister Rita (Wayne), Glace Bay; four grandchildren: Abby and Colton, Lily and Brigette, all of whom she thought of everyday.

Along side her parents, Gladys was predeceased by her son John Joseph, and two brothers Francis and Thomas.

As per her request, there will be no visitation or service. Cremation has taken place under the care and compassion of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay. 902-849-4199.

Our family would like to thank the nurses and staff at both the Glace Bay Hospital and the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, VON, and Continuing Care for all that you did for Gladys. Also, thank you, to her sister Rita, who was there for Gladys over the past eight months.
