Cynthia Louise Huntington Obituary
It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we share the loss of our beloved and cherished mother, Cynthia Louise Huntington (Cindy Lou), who passed away on April 17, 2026, Age 56. Born on January 11, 1970, in Halifax, Cindy was a woman known for her strength, spirit, and unforgettable personality.
Cindy lived life on her own terms, she was strong-willed, sassy, charming, had a good sense of humour and she was always unapologetically herself. She moved through life never trying to fit into anyone else’s expectations. Cindy had a presence that made it clear she was completely her own person, with a strong sense of identity, that always maintained her faith and stood by her beliefs and principles.
Cindy had a warm and welcoming heart that was deeply giving. Often putting others before herself, helping in whatever ways she could, whether knowing them long term or not. Her care showed up in real actions, in presence, in the ways she showed up when it mattered most, and in her clear desire to help those in need. She embraced people with open arms, being “Mama Dukes” to many individuals that she met. Her heart gave freely and even with her own challenges to face, she'd never want to see anybody go without, no matter who you were.
Cindy found joy in the simple things and comfort of her routines, like drinking her morning coffee, watching true crime, reality TV, and she loved watching monkey wildlife documentaries. She always had music playing that she enjoyed and matched her mood. She grew up always being able to find happiness or have fun, loving to dance, sing, was a concertgoer and enjoyed going to the movie theatre. She especially loved watching scary movies with her kids. Cindy grew close with God and accepted him into her life over the years. She enjoyed going to church and would always pray for those she loved.
She was so happy and proud to become a “Glamma” to her two precious granddaughters, her “Peanut” and recently born “Baby Cam.” Her love and pride for her family only grew stronger when they arrived. All she ever wanted to do was talk about and show off her children and grandbabies, she never hesitated to brag about them to everyone she knew or just met. She carried a deep and consistent love for her children throughout her life, and later for her grandchildren, who gave her even more reason to keep going.
Cindy faced all of the ups and downs of life with resilience and determination. She carried herself through difficult seasons with strength drawn from lived experience. Her strong faith and beliefs helped her never give up when things became heavy, no matter what obstacle she encountered. Cindy lived by her sayings and always preached, “Let the cards fall where they may be,” “Everything happens for a reason,” and “Appreciate what you have and who you have, because one day you can be here, and the next day you may not.”
She will be remembered for her big heart, her honesty, her toughness when needed, and the way she gave so much of herself to others.
Cindy leaves behind, and is survived by her children, Justin (Christine), Journee (Mack), and Julian; granddaughters, Marcela and Camira; siblings, Michael, Shannon, and Donna; nephew, Jeffery; nieces, Megan, Keslyn, Amara, Sara, Valerie, and Savannah; uncle, Lyndon; aunts, Lorna and Valerie. She also has cousins, other relatives, and friends who love and will miss her dearly.
She was predeceased by her parents; Terrance Huntington, Sharon (Terry) Huntington; Grandparents, Helen (Allen) Terry and Harry Terry, and Barbara (Mackenzie) Huntington and Frederick Huntington; uncles; Merrill and Lowell; aunts, Cindi, Sandra and Janice.
Her personality left a lasting impression on everyone she met, not because she tried to stand out, but because she naturally did. The strength that Cindy carried, the lasting impact she had on those who knew her, and the caring soul of hers will not be forgotten.
A celebration of life or memorial service will be held at a later date.
