George Stanley Hemlow Obituary

It is with a broken heart, that I have to announce, the passing of my husband, George (Stanley) Hemlow, age 76 of Halifax, (formerly of Indian Harbour Lake), who passed away on April 15, 2026, at the QEII Hospital.

Stanley always had a smile for everyone, he was a gentleman to all both young and old, and a kind and caring soul. He was employed at the Halifax Regional School Board for many years, and made many friends with both teachers, students, and his peers. He enjoyed his trips, spending time with his family in the Antigonish area, as often as he could, and he was loved by all who were lucky enough to know him.

We had 18 truly joyful years of the deepest love, happiest marriage and truest partnership that I could imagine…he gave me the experience of being deeply understood, truly supported and completely and utterly loved…and I will carry that with me always.

Stan is survived by his loving wife, Debbie (Hurshman) Hemlow, of 18 years. His brother, Ralph (Beverly) Hemlow; and his sister, Carolyn (Bruce) Bingley. He was also the proud uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Stan was predeceased by his parents, Winston and Georgina Hemlow; sister, Marilyn Mailman; and his brother-in-law, Stan Mailman. And his first wife, Monica.

Debbie would like to thank the nurses and doctors at the QEII who gave Stanley such wonderful care during his stay there.

At the request of Stanley there will be no service. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to T. J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Beechville. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: tjtracey.com

Stanley wouldn’t want flowers; he would ask that you show kindness and caring to those you love and meet.
