Michael Gregory Foley, 67

Michael Gregory Foley 67 of Glace Bay passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at home. Born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late Mary Isabel (Murphy) and John Foley.

For more than 25 years he dedicated himself to working at the local fish plant (Highland Fisheries) where he served as a respected lead hand in the freezer and shipping and receiving.

Outside of work he was a familiar face around town. You could often spot him out for a walk making his way to the chicken shack a local pizza shop or stopping in the legion. If he wasn’t on the move chances are you’d find him at the Caledonia Club a place where he enjoyed spending time and connecting with friends.

He was an avid Toronto Maple Leaf’s fan never missing a chance to cheer on his team. In his spare time, he also enjoyed golf, baseball, and a good game of darts; all while enjoying a beer.

He will be remembered for his routine, his loyalty, and the quiet way he remained a constant presence in the lives of those around him.

Michael is survived by his siblings Tom (Peggy) Foley of Bridgetown NS, Joseph “Billy” (Linda Parlee) of Paisley ON and Anne Foley of Yarmouth N.S.

He was predeceased by his parents, his sisters Patricia “Patsy” Foley and Mary Foley, his brother and sister-in-law Alan and Arlene Foley, his brother-in-law David Saulnier.

Michael cherished his nieces and nephews, Louise, Karen, Charlie, Stephen, Aaron, and Alison and held a special place in his heart for his grand-nieces and grand-nephews Emilie, Addison, Connor, Mason, Sophie, Haley, and Adam.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation and Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 20, 2026, from 12-1 p.m., and a memorial service to follow at 1 p.m., with Fr. Norman MacPhee presiding. Following the service, a Celebration of Life will be held in Caledonia Athletic Club, 20 Pitt St., Glace Bay,
