Paula Marie Ransome Obituary
Paula Marie Ransome
Glace Bay, N.S.
October 26, 1963 – April 8, 2026
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Paula Marie Ransome, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend to many.
Paula was the cherished daughter of the late Joseph “Booie” and Dolores (Garcia) Andrews. She was the devoted wife of William “Billy” Ransome for 38 years, and together for 46, sharing a deep and enduring love that carried them through life side by side. She was the proud and loving mother of her daughter, Hayley (Chris). She also leaves behind her father-in-law William “Bill” Ransome (Marilyn).
Paula will be deeply missed by her sisters Francine, Annette, Dolores “Itsy” (Leo), and Gail (Shawn); her brother-in-law Joey; and her chosen sister Karen (Harold). She will also be lovingly remembered by her in-laws Patricia (Clifton) Barrie, Earl (Anita), and Al (Terri), as well as her nieces and nephews Travis (Leslie), Nadine (James), Kirk (Sonya), Ryan, Andree (Fran), Matthew (Amanda), Francine (DJ), Brennen, Tyler and Jessica (Mitchell) ; grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. She shared a particularly special bond with her grand-nieces Nora and Carley Jo. Paula also adored her faithful dog Chloe and her grand-puppies Myrah and Rosey.
In addition to her parents, Paula was predeceased by her mother-in-law Marion Ransome; her brothers-in-law Fraser and Joe; and her nephew Anthony.
Paula dedicated 28 years of service to the NSLC, where she formed many lasting friendships. She was also a proud and active member of the NSGEU, serving for many years as Treasurer of Local 470D, a representative on the provincial council, and a shop steward. She was deeply involved in her union and committed to supporting her colleagues throughout the years. Outside of work, she was very active in her community. She spent many years bowling at Heather Bowling Lanes, played in women’s dart leagues for several seasons, and proudly served as captain of her most recent dart team at the Hub Club.
Paula loved packing up her car and heading to bingo with her bingo buddies. Whether travelling locally or further away, she treasured the friendships she made and loved connecting with people everywhere she went. Known for her kindness, generosity, and selfless nature, she loved family gatherings and time spent with loved ones. She especially loved giving gifts and made sure nobody was ever forgotten. Her laughter was contagious, and her presence made every gathering brighter. Paula’s bond with her daughter Hayley was what she cherished most—full of deep love and truly her greatest joy.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of the Emergency Department at the Glace Bay Hospital and the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their care and compassion.
A very special thank you is extended to Dr. Tremblay (Surgeon) and Dr. Vivian (ICU Physician) for their dedication and support. The family would also like to recognize the exceptional care provided by nurses Ashley, Ethan, and Justin, and to offer a heartfelt and special thank you to Delia, RN, of the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre CICU.
Your kindness and professionalism during such a difficult time will always be remembered with deep appreciation.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
