It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Marie Thelma (Gallant) MacKenzie of Dominion, Nova Scotia, on March 16, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Wilfred Laurier and Bridget Cathleen (MacDonald) Gallant.

Marie died peacefully at home surrounded by her husband of 68 years, Michael MacKenzie, and her loving family. She will be deeply missed by her children; Stephen (Kim), Karen (Angus), Doug (Sharon), and Tana (Donald); her nine grandchildren, Mitchell, Cassidy, Jonathan, Kathleen, Rachel, Michael, Samantha, Kristen, Erica, and her 15 great grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Marie was predeceased by her brothers; Eldie Gallant and Thoryl Gallant (Laura); her sisters, Shirley Gallant, Marianita MacNeil (Fred), Mary Remegius “Megie” Botte (Camille), Evelyn Theresa MacAdam (Alec), Mary (Nadie) Agnes (Willie),and Irene Roach (Leo).

Marie will always be remembered as a strong, hardworking and kind individual. A loving and supportive wife; she was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother, second to none. Marie’s love of music, gardening, cooking and fun natured ways will live on within us.

She will never be forgotten and forever cherished in our hearts.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve Street, Glace Bay, 902-849-4199. Visitation will take place on Monday, March 23, from 1-3 pm at the funeral home with a service at 3 pm in the Chapel, Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating, a reception to follow.
