We, the family of Patricia Evelyn MacLean (Fewer), regret to announce her passing on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at the Hospice Cape Breton, Sydney, surrounded by family.

Born in Sydney, Patricia was the daughter of the late Gregory and Ruth (Hareguy) Fewer.

Patricia is survived by her children, Shane (Jennifer) MacLean and Crystal MacLean. She was also a proud grandmother to Ella MacLean, and Sadie and Hazel Rossolimo, who brought her great joy. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she loved hearing about their lives and milestones.

For many years, Patricia and her family welcomed young people into their home as billets for a local major junior hockey team, forming friendships with players and their families that lasted long beyond their time on the ice. In later years, she also opened her home to international students, something she truly enjoyed, taking pride in getting to know the students and their families from around the world.

Also surviving are sisters, Rebecca Barrington, Sydney River; Sheila (Gary Carew) Fewer, Sydney; and brother Gary (Maxine) Fewer, Northside East Bay, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Patricia was predeceased by husband Gregory MacLean, and her sisters Colleen MacCormick, and Ruth Ann Delaney, and brothers Gregory and Allan Fewer.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, 902-539-7175. There will be no visitation or funeral service at this time, a private family gathering will take place.

Memorial donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital or Hospice Cape Breton.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Palliative Unit at CB Regional Hospital and Hospice Cape Breton for their kindness and care during Patricia’s final days.
