Webetta May Duffy Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Webetta May Duffy at home on Saturday February 28, 2026. Born in Inverness, NS on August 2, 1944, she was the eldest daughter of the late Charles and Hughena MacKinnon of Hays River, Inverness Co. NS.

A registered nurse, she graduated from the Sydney City Hospital School of Nursing in 1965. Over her career, she worked at the Sydney City Hospital, Spring Garden Villa Nursing Home and the office of Dr William Snow, meeting many lifelong friends along the way.

Webetta found strength in her faith and was an active member of United Heritage Church as a member of the choir, Ladies Fellowship, as well as the Coffee, Quilting, and Painting groups. She will be sadly missed by her church family.

In life, Webetta lived to support her children and grandchildren in all their activities, hockey, dance, soccer, and more. Even after they finished competing, she would often be seen in a gym, at a soccer field or dance event cheering on the children and grandchildren of family and friends. Her presence at these events will be missed.

Webetta is survived by her daughters Heather (Michael) Campbell, Sydney and Larisa (David Dow) Saint John, NB; her six grandchildren Breagh-Ann, Emily, Ian, Liam, Brandon and Nathaniel and her two fur grandbabies Luka and Finley; her siblings Malcolm (Cheryl) MacKinnon; Allena (Jim) MacDonald; Charlie (Judy) MacKinnon; John (Linda) MacKinnon; her brother-in-law Sheldon Duffy, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins who all held a special place in her heart. She will also be missed by her close friends Brenda, Sharon, Arlene, and Leona who often attended community suppers, breakfasts, teas and concerts together.

Besides her parents, Webetta is predeceased by her husband Orison, son Trevor, sister-in-law Elsie Duffy, and her four-legged companion and best friend, Casey.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists.
