Chesley “Ches” Snow, 96

Birch Grove, N.S.

We are deeply saddened to announce the peaceful passing of Ches, a beloved husband, dad, grandfather, brother, and uncle, at the Seaview Manor on Saturday, March 6, 2026. Born in Birch Grove on April 26, 1929, he was the son of the late Mary Louise and John Snow.

Ches was humble and kind. In his younger years he moved to Toronto and worked at Campbell’s Soup. Later, he moved back home and drove Bus for Pettipas Bus Service and then drove school bus up until his retirement 31 years ago. He was an avid outdoorsman, and a proud honorary member of the Birch Grove Volunteer Fire Dept. Ches enjoyed time spent with his family and weekly get togethers with his neighborhood friends in the garage.

Ches will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 69 years, May; his two children Greg (Marion), Port Morien, and Jody (Jodi), Saskatoon; two grandchildren Tara (Manni), Kyle (Pauline); great-grandchildren: Logan (Jenna), Olivia and Kerri; his great-great grandchildren Alora and Laken; sisters Leah and Flora (Pius); as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Along side his parents, Ches was predeceased by sisters Mabel, Sadie, Louise, and Emily; brothers Bill, Andy, Robert, and Charles in infancy; as well as brothers and sisters-in-law.

In honouring Ches’ wishes there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and compassion of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, N.S. 902-849-4199. A graveside service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Birch Grove Volunteer Fire Dept. or the Canadian Diabetic Association.
