Kathleen Laura Mae (Simpson) Keezer slipped quietly away on the evening of February 27, 2026, at the age of 95. Born on November 8, 1930, in Steam Mill Village, NS, she was a daughter of the late John (Jack) Holroyd Simpson and Annie (Veinot) Simpson.

Kathleen’s life was marked by devotion – to her faith, her family and her work. She married her beloved husband, Wilfred Lawrence Keezer, and shared 49 devoted years of marriage until his passing in 1999. Together they built a home filled with love, faith and hospitality. Kathleen was a devoted mother to five children, Judy Kirby (Edward), Brian Keezer (Lucille), Darrell Keezer (Joanne), Steven Keezer (Carolyn), and Carolyn Courrier (Ken). She was affectionately known as “Nanny” and “Nanny K” to her 13 grandchildren: Jennifer, Johnathan, Andrew, Christopher, Heather, Hannah, Matthew, Greg, Haley, Mark, Imogen, Zackery and Ethan; step-grandchildren, Alicia, Michael and Reanna; and to her 23 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense pride and joy.

She was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Ronald, in infancy, Johnny, Steam Mill and Stuart of Wichita, Kansas. In addition to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she is survived by her brother, Robert, Port Williams; sisters, Betty Corkum (Carl), Kentville and Margaret Dwyer, Halifax; half-brother, Johnny (Anne) Fredericton.

Kathleen’s working career reflected determination and growth, starting in the insurance industry as a filing clerk and over the years, advanced to Auto Underwriter until she retired. Her home was a place of warmth and welcome. Kathleen had a gift for timing meals, so everything was ready at once. Faith was central to her life. Over the years, she worshipped and served faithfully, teaching Sunday School, supporting missionary groups and even serving for a time as Sunday School Superintendent. Her faith was not only practiced but lived – through generosity, hospitality and compassion. Kathleen loved people. No matter where she was, she struck up conversations with strangers as easily as with lifelong friends. Among her nephews and nieces, she was often known as the favorite aunt, the one who made everyone feel special and at home. She loved children and delighted in having her grandchildren over for sleepovers, playing games and doing crafts, even well into her 80s.

A celebration of Kathleen’s life will take place on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at 11 a.m. in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, followed by interment in the Black Rock Baptist Cemetery, Russia Road. After the burial a reception will follow. Details are being finalized and we will let everyone know at that time.
