Joseph Harry Buckland Obituary
Joseph Harry Buckland, aged 82, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026 at
Northwood, Ivany Place, Bedford, NS. Born on December 29, 1943 in Sydney, NS, he was
the son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Boudreau) Buckland.
After moving to Halifax, Joe met the love of his life, Linda. They were married in 1967 and shared 49 years together.
In his younger years, many happy Saturday nights were spent dancing with Linda and family at the legion. Joe enjoyed packing up the family and heading to Smiley’s Provincial Park to cook on the Coleman stove. He cherished gatherings at the round table with his sisters, filled with debate and laughter, over tea and a slice of Linda’s delicious homemade bread. When not at the kitchen table, he could be found at Freeman’s playing the slots! He also spent many summers relaxing at Ralph and Malley’s cottage.
He will be deeply missed and never forgotten by all who loved him. Joe is survived by his son, Joey (Karen), and daughter, Sharon (Grant); his much-loved grandchildren, Jaclyn, Melissa (Patrick), Jillian, and Kevin; and his sisters, Joanie, Sharon (Jacques), and Shirley (Gary).
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Linda; sisters, Josephine, Lorraine, Louise, Suzy, Betty, and Anna; and brothers, John and Francis.
A special thank you to the staff at Maritime Hills, Ivany Place, for their care and compassion. Donations may be made to an animal shelter in honour of his love of animals.
A celebration of life will be held at Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 2096 Windsor St., Halifax, on Saturday, March 7, 2026 from 2 to 4 p.m.
