Sylvia (Sibby) Jean Pittman, 74

It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of Sylvia Jean Pittman “Sibby" 74 at New Waterford Consolidated Hospital Feb 26 surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Glace Bay, Sylvia was the daughter of the late Gregory Pittman and the late Mary MacNeil.

Sylvia’s journey was not always easy; she faced challenges that did not define her, through it all she was deeply loved but chose to live her life her way. Her courage and strength through her brief illness reminds us that life is more than struggles it is the love we give, share, and the memories we leave behind. Sylvia found great joy in listening to music, going for drives, and doing her scratch tickets.

She will be sadly missed by her daughter Danette Lawlor and granddaughter Charleigh Lawlor; a brother Greg (Charmaine); sisters Linda (Jimmy) and Lisa (Danny); nieces Jeanann, Michelle, Bernice, Vanessa and Danielle, all of whom were by her side until the end; as well as niece Amanda and nephew Greg Chislett.

Along with her parents, Sylvia was predeceased by her stepfather Ronnie MacNeil and a brother Troy MacNeil.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to New Waterford Consolidated Hospital, third floor (The Heights) for their devotion, care and compassion given to Sylvia the past number of years; A very special thank you to Wendy, as well as “her favorite” Holly Campbell, who she loved so very much.

Cremation has taken place under the care and compassion of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay. (902) 849-4199. A graveside service will take place at later date.
