With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Wilma Kathleen McLeod (Sutherland), 79, of Coxheath, on Monday, February 23, 2026. Born in Sydney and raised in Sydney River, Wilma was the daughter of the late Neil and Catherine (MacNeil) Sutherland.

Wilma is survived and will be dearly missed by her loving husband of 55 years, Bernie (Connie) McLeod; her son, Michael (Keri (Jackson)) McLeod; and grandchildren, Ella, Macie, and Marlee. She took great pride in her granddaughters and the opportunity to share the joy each one brought her. Wilma is also survived by numerous siblings and their spouses, a large extended family of in-laws, nieces, and nephews plus her dear friends.

Wilma proudly graduated from the Sydney City Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1968. She spent her nursing career in the Emergency and Outpatient Department at the Sydney City Hospital. Wilma was known for her strength and calm presence in a position that found her on the frontlines of healthcare. She was a wonderfully generous individual who loved to give family and friends cards or gifts to let others know she was always thinking of them.

As per her wishes, cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, NS, 902-539-7175. A Celebration of Life will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 4, from 2-4pm.
