It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of Terry Dennis MacFarlane, 68, of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, announce his passing on February 22nd, 2026, at the Dartmouth General Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones.

Born to the late, Bryce Carson MacFarlane and Lillian Annie (Barrett) MacFarlane, Terry was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Harry.

He is lovingly survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Faye (Bellefontaine); his daughter, Kelly (Derrick); his sons, Derek (Bridgit) and Colin; his sister, Karen (Ken) Walker; and his cherished grandchildren, Joshua, Emma, Ryker, and Bryce.

Terry meant something special to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. To some, he was a mentor – the one who showed you how it was done and made sure you learned right. In the workplace, he was known as one of the strongest, most dependable, and wisest coworkers anyone could ask for. He shared his knowledge freely and took pride in teaching others everything he knew.

To his friends, he was loyal, steady, and always there when needed – an amazing friend whose presence could never be replaced.

He took immense pride in his craft and spent his life doing what he loved most, carpentry. If he wasn’t inside the house, or driving his truck, he could often be found in his garage working on his next project. He believed anything worth building was worth building right, and that same principle guided how he lived his life.

Above all else, Terry was a devoted husband, the proudest father to his three children, and the very best grandfather anyone could ever ask for. His greatest pride was his family, and his greatest joy was cheering them on – whether at the rink watching Ryker play hockey or the soccer field watching Emma and Joshua or babysitting and playing with his youngest grandchild Bryce. To his wife and children, he was a constant source of strength, wisdom, love, and unwavering support.

Terry built a life defined by hard work, strong values, deep love, and quiet strength. The foundation he laid within his family and among those who knew him will stand strong for generations to come.

He will be greatly missed by his loving pets, Ginger, Diesel, Smokey, and Max.

A Celebration of Life will be held on March 27th, 2026, at 46 Friesian Court, Halifax Common Room, from 2:00PM-5:00 PM. Donations can be made to the SPCA.
