I send my deepest condolences to Tarra's friends and family for this loss. I knew Tarra during her time as Administrative Secretary at CWRS at Dalhousie University, when I was a faculty member of CWRS. I remember Tarra being such a pleasure to work with, so on top of all the complex administrative processes - all with kindness and grace. I remember also Tarra being a reassuring support for the graduate students in the CWRS programme; she helped make the tough process of grad school a positive experience for so many students. Tarra was awesome. She cared deeply about her work and the communities she served. She worked hard to bring people together, with humour, good will, and, sometimes, games. She is greatly missed.

I'm sending love and light to Tarra's family, friends, colleagues and loved ones. I will never forget the kindness and empathy she showed me in the short time we worked closely at Dal.
I was a struggling and often overwhelmed beginner admin colleague, and Tarra took on the role of a mentor. She took my phone calls for advice, met me in her office, and happily offered her guidance without hesitation. I learned a lot about our work from her but most importantly, I learned a lot about leading with empathy, kindness, grace and humour in the workplace. And I am truly so grateful.

I was a Middle Eastern PhD student when I met Terra! She was working as an admin assistant with my supervisor back then, always sitting in front of his office with a big, welcoming smile, which was rare for strangers who looked like me to get into that little town!
She was sweet nice, and kind and her passing away is one of the saddest pieces of news I have gotten for a while now.
I hope she is at peace now and my deepest condolences to her loved ones for losing such a rare gem!

Theresa & family:
I am so sorry for your loss. I use to see Tarra when I had worked briefly in the faculty of engineering at Dalhousie and on studley campus while working in the senate office. Tarra always had a smile on her face and from what I know, she was very well-liked by all of her colleagues at the university. She was a lovely person. I only knew Tarra for a short time, but she made a huge impact on me and on my two girls who sometimes came to work with me. My youngest, Linnea, was especially drawn to her and would bring her coloured pictures every time she visited the office. It saddens me that she’s gone, but I like to think she’s already become the life of the party wherever she is now.
