James Darryl Campbell Obituary

James Darrly Campbell, 81 passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born September 21, 1944, to Adrian and Gracia (Milligan) Campbell. James, affectionately known as Jim, Jimmy, Dad and Bampy grew up in Stellarton, Nova Scotia alongside his four brothers and one sister.

Jim is survived by his wife of 58 years, Claudia; his children, Shan Innes, Treena and Brad; and two cherished grandchildren, Lauren (Mitchell Jamieson) Innes and Justin (Kristen Bosworth) Innes; and his great grandchildren, Lucy and Milo Jamieson and Ben and Abby Innes. His brothers, Ross, Paul (Delia); sister, Cindy (Howard) Rubin. His brothers-in-law, Nason, Colin (Donna) and David Cummings; and his sisters-in-law, Joanne Cummings and Diane Campbell. He was predeceased by his brothers, David, Joel Campbell.

Growing up, his parents had a cottage in Pictou Landing, where Jim spent many summers with his siblings. Being on the water was one of his happiest places. Jim loved music, the old-style country was his favourite. He was often found with headphones on listening to his favourite hits. He also loved camping, boating, snowmobiling and cars, anything that brought adventure, fresh air and a little fun.

Jim had a true talent for finding a good bargain. Buying and selling bikes, boats, snowmobiles and cars was more than a hobby, it was something he genuinely loved. Anyone who knew Jim well knew about his fondness for curbside shopping. Discovering a hidden treasure, he could fix up and sell, or give to someone else, made his day. It’s no surprise that he went on to have a successful career in sales.

Jim was a quiet, kind, humble and loving man, a natural leader with deep integrity. He led his high school as class president and later went on to lead many sales teams throughout his career.

He met Claudia, the love of his life and best friend in high school, and their journey together began during their university years, after he asked her to dance at one of the of the regular dances held in their hometown.

Together they built a family he was deeply proud of. Jim loved his children and celebrated each of their accomplishments with pride. Watching his grandchildren grow and later having the joy of meeting his great grandchildren, was one of life’s greatest treasures for him. He loved making them all laugh, and cherished time spent together, whether on family vacations or simply gathered around the dinner table. He was happiest when his family was all around him.

Jim will be deeply missed and remembered lovingly for his kindness, his quiet strength and the love he gave so freely to his family.

The family wishes to acknowledge with deep gratitude all the healthcare team members including physicians, nurses, pharmacists and palliative care specialists who walked alongside us during this difficult time. Their compassion, patience, and respect ensured comfort and dignity, for which we will always be thankful. We are also grateful for the many family, friends and neighbors whose prayers, visits, meals, messages and unwavering support brought strength and comfort throughout this journey.

There will not be any visitation or funeral service. If you wish, donations can be made to support the Lung Cancer Research Program in Nova Scotia or a charity of your choice.
