Darlene Jamieson, 66

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Darlene Jamieson, 66, of Glace Bay after a brief, courageous battle with cancer in the Palliative Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on Sunday, February 1, 2026, surrounded by her children.


Born in Glace Bay on May 8,1959, to Charles “Chuck” Jamieson and the late Marion (Murray) Jamieson. Mom spent her earlier years employed with the Nova Scotia Liquor Commission, and later in life a dedicated stay at home Mom.


Darlene is survived by her father whom she thought the world of Charles “Chuck “Jamieson (Penny Murray), her two children Ryan Marman (Natalie) and Sara Marman (Keith), her loving partner Wayne Perry, and his children, as well as her precious grandchildren Ella and Blake. Darlene will also be remembered by the father of her children Michael Marman. She is also survived by her close-knit siblings who she adored; brothers Charlie (Lillian), Raymond (Barb), Michael (Tanya) and sister Trish (Ron) Walsh who were always by her side specifically during her illness; as well as many nieces, nephews; aunts: Edna Nearing, MaryAnne (John) MacPhee and Donna Zegrey. Mom also had special friendships and a close bond with her Glace Bay girls (Chat Night with Booze Girls) with whom she grew up with and still maintained a close relationship for 60 years; Diane Slade, Brenda Truckair, Arnelle Morrison, Hazel Brooks, Margie, and Mona MacKenzie. Mom will also be dearly missed by her friends “The Crew” at Jiggers, as well as her fur baby Brady with whom she was able to spend her last moments with.


Darlene is predeceased by her mother Marion, many aunts and uncles, special aunt Debi Jamieson MacEachern, and uncle Charles Nearing.


A special thank you to the Palliative Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, the compassion and care that you had shown mom will never be forgotten, specifically to Dr. Abboud and special nurse Deanna Harvey for all kindness, care and support that was given to our mom, and to Heather and Erika Kerr who shared a special loving bond and close relationship with mom over the last twenty years.


Cremation had taken place under the care and compassion of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay. 902-849-4199.

Visitation will take place on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 11 a.m.-12 p.m., with a Memorial Service to follow at 12 p.m. As per Moms wishes, a Celebration of Life will take place at Jiggers Lounge, Union St., Glace Bay, at 6 p.m. With family and friends.

In the words of Mom “I don’t want to see you cry; everything will be okay.”
