It is with deep heartache, that we the family of Ricky Lee Dixon, 55, of Glace Bay, announce his passing on Friday, January 30, 2026, in the An Cala Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Ricky is the son of the late Louis and Annette (MacIntosh) Dixon.
Ricky began working at an early age alongside his father at Bay Seafoods, which led him to work at Miller Industrial Sales where he was treated more like family. Ricky spent many years driving taxi in Glace Bay, and he was one of the most popular at Bud’s Taxi. Over the past number of years, Ricky developed a passion for Stock Car Racing where he started his career as Crew Chief for Strang Road Racing and moved into the role as Driver of the #4 car, racing alongside friends and his favorite son Ryan. He was named Rookie of the Year for his division, making him the oldest Rookie of the Year in the Maritimes in 2024. Ricky was exceptionally proud of daughter Brittany for graduating with her BSCN, often referring to her as his retirement plan, but nothing brought him more joy than the birth of his granddaughter, Kasey Lee, who shares his name and the news of a second grandchild arriving in August.
Ricky is survived by his wife and best friend Pam (Muffin) of 35 years; son: Ryan (Emily); daughter Brittany (Eric) and special niece Melissa; brothers: Chris (Maureen), Cole Harbour, N.S.; sisters: Louann (Danny) Kennedy, niece, Emma Kennedy, nephew Kyle Kennedy, Elmsdale, N.S.; granddaughter Kasey Lee and baby Parker expected in August, step-grandchildren Noah and Lola; Ricky is also survived by Tillie Scott and her daughter Lainey, who Ricky thought of as his own; sisters-in-law Debbie O’Neill, Gail (Joey) Campbell, both of Glace Bay, Gwen Bona, Loretta Gouthro, Cecilia (Ron) Nuttall, Cheryl (Kevin) Ford, Cambridge, ON; brothers-in-law Bernie Gouthro, Glace Bay, Jimmy Gouthro, Tommy Gouthro, Michael (Jennifer) Gouthro, Cambridge, ON; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Alongside his parents, Ricky was predeceased by his parents-in-law Mutt and Eleanor Gouthro; brothers-in-law Reggie O’Neill and Gordon Bona; sister-in-law Mary Gouthro.
Cremation has taken place under the care and compassion of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, N.S. 902-849-4199.Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 12-2 p.m., with a Funeral Service to follow at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the An Cala Palliative Care Unit, CBRH, or The Canadian Cancer Society.
Our family would like to thank the staff of 4C in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Special thank you NP Renee Morrison, Dr. Rose MacKay, Dr. Andrew Giorno, Dr. Fitzgerald, and Dr. Saneea Abboud, as well as the staff of Palliative Care for the wonderful and compassionate care given to Ricky and his family during his final days.
