With deep sadness, the family announces the passing of Suzanne O'Reilly, 82, on December 14, 2025. She passed peacefully at Dartmouth General Hospital.
She was predeceased by her parents, John Boyle O'Reilly and Winifred Eileen O'Reilly (Murphy), and by her infant sibling, Joseph. She is lovingly remembered by her brothers Paul (Nancy – deceased), Victoria, BC; Charles (Corinne), Halifax; George (Diane), Dartmouth; sister Mary (Robert), Sandy Bottom Lake, Annapolis Valley and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Born in Saint John, New Brunswick, Suzanne spent her childhood in Saint John, Moncton, and later Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. She graduated from the Nova Scotia Teachers College, Truro and Saint Marys University, Halifax and briefly taught in Nova Scotia. A gifted seamstress, she took great joy in arts and crafts, knitting and crocheting, needlepointing, and creating clothing and draperies. She generously donated several of her handmade items to those in need. For many years she would knit baby clothes for donation to the IWK. Suzanne also had a lifelong love of math puzzles and European history, and she was especially knowledgeable about the English monarchy.
Cremation has taken place according to her wishes. Her remains will be interred in the family gravesite in Saint John, N.B., sometime next summer (date to be determined). A private service will be held prior to interment.
